It’s a Willy Webb-Ellis year

It’s 2023 and I’m asking ‘what’s the most important thing?’ It’s an election year and a RWC year. Buckle up. I’ve always been a Canterbury fan, but I was and still am a Foster fan because I believe in loyalty and respect and patience. I expect The ABs will bring Willy Webb-Ellis home, but if they don’t, it won’t be the end of the world. Over my lifetime, the ABs, Ian Foster included, are well and truly on the good side of eN-Zed’s ledger.

Really, I’m hoping for an eN-Zed & Oz final, because there’s only one thing sweeter than the ABs winning the RWC.

It’ll be tense. There’ll be some dodgy ref calls. There’ll be tears (hopefully not mine). There’ll be some early mornings or late nights, but we’ll do what we have to do to support our team.

The election…, if only Richie, Tana, Dan, Ruby and even Mehrts would go into politics… When Richie was selected to lead, he took the responsibility to heart and he put his body and soul on the line. No one accused him on Whatsapp of being a cry-baby. Tana didn’t just one day up and quit and semi-join another team. And Mehrts…, do you remember how he dealt with a rowdy crowd with just 2 fingers?

Maybe it’s the jersey and the silver fern. Maybe if you win the election, you should have to wear that silver fern to remind you of what’s important. eN-Zed’s natural environment, team work and commitment and doing it for your country, because the answer to that initial question is, ‘it is people, it is people, it is people’.  It is eN-Zedders. That’s who’ll rejoice if the ABs bring Willy Webb Ellis back and it’s eN-Zedders who should rejoice when their elected politicians work for all eN-Zedders.

What do you think? Who’ll be the winners in 2023?
