In search of eN-Zed’s best beach: Hokitika

Hokitika Beach – not the picture-postcard swimming and sunbathing beach, but very high up on the ‘satisfying places to be’ list. Truckloads of natural beauty.

I’ve been searching for the best eN-Zed beach. We all know that our beaches aren’t like sandy Queensland beaches with their sharks, jelly-fish and dingoes or like the Mediterranean beaches with their bazillions of occupied sunbeds, or like Thailand’s beaches that are over-run with IG-seeking tourists. eN-Zed’s beaches are special; unique.

This beach is at Hokitika. It’s not a swimming beach. It’s a get-a-glass-of-wine-or-a-cup-of-coffee beach. It’s a beach to sit and watch the waves and contemplate the meaning of life. Make some art with the driftwood or the rocks on the sand as others have done. Or just sit and enjoy the wrap-around nature.

What do you think? Have you visited Hokitika Beach? What’s your favourite eN-Zed beach? And why?
