Government is for the grown-ups

The fuss and bother regarding National and the preferred Prime Minister is a smokescreen generated by the mainstream media (aka political ideologists, Form 4 debating club members, failed Economics students and proud holders of media studies certificates). The mainstream media want their gravy train back. Labour gave them millions of dollars to publish distorted, biassed reports and stories and to bury stories that ‘didn’t fit Labour’s narrative’. George Orwell stuff, right? Oh wait, they don’t teach Orwell in NCEA anymore though so I guess the media studies certificate holders wouldn’t know what that even means. They want Labour and the Greens to continue feeding them for nothing, grifters. But eN-Zed is a country and an economy; it’s not a toy or a game. Real people’s lives and livelihoods are at stake.

The country needs grown-ups and people who know what they’re talking about running it. We need people who understand words like ‘productivity’, ‘inflation’, ‘balanced budgets’, ‘export income’, and ‘money doesn’t grow on trees’. Improving eN-Zed – the country, the economy and the people’s standards of living, requires ONE simple thing: increase labour productivity. Homelessness is an issue, child poverty is an issue, crime is an issue, poor healthcare is an issue… and they all can ONLY be fixed if the country’s economy generates more income. Because ‘money doesn’t grow on trees’. Labour productivity means that for each worker, we as a country, generate more income. When this happens, workers’ incomes increase, taxes increase, government spending can increase, and THEN those issues can be resolved.

So… how to increase labour productivity? Improve the quality of our workers through better education (scrapping stupid NCEA was a good star but next we have to get stuck into the post-school education system… more technical and technological colleges and less degrees in media studies would be good too). We need to attract foreign investment by lower business taxes and getting rid of all the nonsense regulations and ethnic consultancy hurdles. We need to make making money through entrepreneurship easier and quicker. National, ACT and NZ First are doing that. Labour, Greens and TPM want to do the opposite. We saw what Labour’s economic management was like and it was ugly and it dragged eN-Zed back decades to those horrible old days of high foreign debt, high interest payments, high unemployment and high inflation.
